Banana Breads!!!

1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of butter substitute (Earth Balance)
egg substitute for 2 eggs (I use 2 teaspoons cornstarch and 1/2 cup water)
3 bananas (though 2 will work)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups of flour + a tablespoon or more for high altitude.
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Put all of the above ingredients into a bowl and beat together with a mixer until smooth. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake for roughly 45 minutes at 325 degrees or until a toothpick comes out clean. It may take longer to cook than 45 minutes.

Makes 1 loaf. takes about 55 mins total.

homemade animal friendly soap

I like to make my own soaps. This is a cheap way to protect your environment and be positive about the contents of your soap. No plastic is wasted and no pollution created during production.

you need:
vegetable glycerin bar (to be melted down)
any essential oil you desire
soap dye (you can find it at michaels or similar craft stores)
molds *mine are squares that i get to stamp and design myself...you can get shapes and
decorative accessories at the craft store.

heat the glycerin bar in a double boiler until completely melted. drop a few drops of the dye and oils in. pour into molds. let sit maybe 2 hours, until solid. and you have soap!!!

to do different scents and/or colors for each soap mold, just pour the glycerin in the molds and then do each drop separately. easy easy.

these make for great gifts.

a rant...

I just wish the general public didn't use public transit as an opportunity to hit on people.

it makes me sad for everyone involved

Pancakes

whenever we run short on ingredients or food I'll make pancakes.

so easy:

1 1/2 cup flour
1 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1 T sugar
1 T vanilla
1 1/2 c water

mix ingredients and plop some of the batter on the skillet and wait for bubbles. flip it when its bubbly (not just one or two now...) and let the other side cook. done and done....put on your essentials and eat. :)
***you can take out the sugar if you want, i only use both sugar and vanilla because its so damn good.

look for more recipes in the up coming issue of On the Run! soon. :)

I think everyone should check out the water power option for their cars, if you have one... you tube it if you must... water powered vehicles.

much love
